Logistics Initiatives for the Hamburg Metropolitan Region
More than 500 companies and organizations in the fields of industry, trade and services teamed up with the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg to form the Logistics Initiative Hamburg. The objective is to enhance the region’s position as the leading logistics hub in northern Europe. The initiative is particularly involved in promoting innovation and new technologies.
The Initiative is actively engaged in strengthening the network which links the industry, academia and politics and entails everything from exchanging information to long-term cooperation. The Logistics Initiative combines companies’ ideas, requirements and interests and functions as a one-stop agency for companies planning to locate in the region.
The northern part of the Hamburg metropolitan region is covered by the regional business development agencies, which jointly constitute the ‘Regionalmanagement Logistik’. The Regionalmanagement will cooperate closely with the Logistics Initiative Hamburg, providing the business community with services from a single source and aiming to develop earmarked logistics real estate.
In the southern part of the metropolitan region, Süderelbe AG is building a network among the local companies. Apart from initiating its own projects, this one-stop agency is the central service provider and consultancy for all matters relating to business location and real estate in the southern Elbe region. With its property agency and consulting service, coupled with the sustainable development of large-area logistics real estate, Süderelbe AG ensures that site location and logistics expertise are optimally integrated. The agency will find the ideal location, procure suitable premises, act as a broker for occupants and investors, and provide support for purchase negotiations, planning and obtaining authority approvals.
